NIS STRENGTHENS SENIOR LEADERSHIP CAPACITY THROUGH HOSTMANSHIP PROGRAMME IN THE HAGUE

In furtherance of its commitment at enhancing capacity building, leadership development and people-centred Service Delivery, Nigeria Immigration Service Senior Management Officers participated in a four-day Hostmanship Senior Leadership Programme in The Hague, Kingdom of the Netherlands.

2. The Comptroller-General of Immigration, KN Nandap, pcc, fsmn, and five other very senior officers of the Service participated in the training held from 31st August to 3rd September 2026. The programme was organized by the Repatriation and Departure Service (R&DS) of the Ministry of Justice and Security, Kingdom of the Netherlands, as part of the continued partnership between both institutions.
3. Focused on Hostmanship as a leadership philosophy and its application in shaping organisational culture, decision-making and the experience of people who interact with the Service. Participants also explored the foundational philosophy of Hostmanship, leadership approaches for driving organisational change, and practical strategies for embedding Hostmanship across the Service, including development of participants action-plan for implementation within their respective areas of responsibility.
4. The Nigeria Immigration Service extends its appreciation to the Ministry of Justice and Security of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, specifically to the Repatriation and Departure Service, for their sustained partnership and support.

NIGERIA IMMIGRATION SERVICE HOSTS TRENDAI/TREND MICRO DELEGATION, EXPLORES STRATEGIC CYBERSECURITY PARTNERSHIP

1. The Nigeria Immigration Service received a delegation from TrendAI/Trend Micro at its Headquarters in Abuja on 1st September 2026. The visit was aimed at strengthening collaboration on cybersecurity architecture, AI integration, and data security.
2. The delegation, led by Mr. Assad Arabi, Managing Director, Africa and Venture Markets, highlighted Trend Micro’s extensive global expertise in cybersecurity architecture and emphasised that the company is seeking a long-term strategic partnership with the NIS rather than a transactional product sale. They proposed supporting the Service through continuous technical advisory, capacity building, and the integration of their Trend Vision One cybersecurity platform to protect critical NIS digital infrastructure and information systems.
3. The Comptroller General of Immigration, KN Nandap, pcc, fsmn, represented by the DCG Visa and Residency, F.U. Nwanneka, welcomed the exploratory collaboration and technical engagement, and emphasised the importance of leveraging strategic technology partnerships to strengthen the Service’s digital infrastructure, cybersecurity posture, and overall operational efficiency.
4. The engagement featured robust discussions on data privacy, system compatibility, capacity building for NIS ICT personnel, and technical advisory services.

NIS CELEBRATES OUTSTANDING SPORTING ACHIEVEMENTS OF ITS OFFICERS.

The Nigeria Immigration Service celebrates two remarkable feats by two Officers who have distinguished themselves on the global and continental sporting stage.

ASI 1 Azeez Moridiyyah Motunrayo proudly emerged as World Champion and Gold Medallist in the W50 Masters Javelin event at the ongoing World Masters Athletics Competition in South Korea.

Similarly, ASI Kayode Ajilore led the Nigeria Continental Beach Volleyball contingent to a historic double achievement at the African Beach Volleyball Continental Championship — securing Nigeria’s first-ever continental title in the competition and, in the process, earning Nigeria its first-ever Olympic qualification ticket in Beach Volleyball for the LA 2028 Olympic Games.

CGI KN Nandap, pcc, fsmn on behalf of the officers and men celebrates these remarkable sporting achievements, which have brought immense pride to the Nigeria Immigration Service and Nigeria as a whole. NIS REPOSITIONS AIRPORT OPERATIONS FOR PROFESSIONAL EXCELLENCE AND ENHANCED SERVICE DELIVERY THROUGH CAPACITY BUILDING

The Nigeria Immigration Service, under the leadership of the Comptroller-General of Immigration, KN Nandap, pcc, fsmn, has successfully concluded a two-week capacity-building training for personnel of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Command, Abuja. The training, a first in a series designed for personnel of NIS airport formations across the country was held from 28th July to 7th August 2026 at the Shehu Shagari Conference Hall, Service Headquarters. It focused on strengthening operational efficiency, professionalism, ethical conduct and Service Delivery.

2. Themed “Repositioning NIS Airport Operations for Professional Excellence, Ethical Conduct and Enhanced Service Delivery,” the training was executed to instill practical knowledge and skills in passenger profiling, visa and entry verification, passenger and crew clearance, queue management, MIDAS and e-Gates, apron operations, hostmanship, ethical conduct and anti-corruption practices.
3. The capacity-building programme was introduced in response to the evolving demands of modern airport operations, increased passenger traffic, and the growing use of technology in border management. It is designed to ensure that NIS personnel are adequately equipped to effectively address emerging operational challenges.

NIGERIA IMMIGRATION SERVICE RECEIVES OPERATIONAL VEHICLES TO STRENGTHEN OPERATIONAL CAPACITY

The Nigeria Immigration Service hosted a delegation from the German Federal Police, led by Mr. Neils Zimmermann, Head of Department 42, at the Service Headquarters, Sauka, Abuja. The visit also featured formal handover of operational vehicles to the Service, underscoring the growing partnership between both institutions.

2. The Comptroller-General of Immigration, KN Nandap, pcc, fsmn, welcomed the delegation and described the partnership as a testament to the strong bilateral relationship between Nigeria and Germany. She commended German Government for the kind gesture and noted that the donated operational vehicles would significantly enhance the Service’s operational mobility and effectiveness in the discharge of its statutory responsibilities.

3. In his remarks, Mr. Neils Zimmermann, Head of Department 42, German Federal Police, reaffirmed Germany’s commitment to supporting the Nigeria Immigration Service in strengthening institutional capacity and promoting effective Migration Management. NIS, NETHERLANDS STRENGTHEN PARTNERSHIP WITH DONATION OF EQUIPMENT TO ENHANCE HOSTMANSHIP UNIT OPERATIONS

The Nigeria Immigration Service and the Repatriation and Departure Service (R&DS) of the Ministry of Justice and Security of the Kingdom of the Netherlands have further strengthened their longstanding partnership with the donation of specialised equipment to the NIS Hostmanship Unit. The equipment was presented during a ceremony at the Service Headquarters, Abuja, on Monday, 27th July, 2026, reaffirming both institutions’ shared commitment to institutional capacity building and service excellence.

2. Receiving the equipment on behalf of the Service, the Comptroller-General of Immigration, KN Nandap, pcc, fsmn, described the gesture as another landmark in the over two decades of collaboration between the Nigeria Immigration Service and the Kingdom of the Netherlands. She noted that the equipment represents a strategic investment in institutional excellence, professionalism, and a culture of courtesy, empathy, and outstanding service. She also expressed confidence that the donation would further enhance the Unit’s training capacity, operational efficiency, and the institutionalisation of the Hostmanship philosophy across the Service, where every officer is inspired to make people feel welcomed, respected, and valued at every point of contact.

The Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Abuja, Mr. Ronald Sonnemans, described the partnership with the Nigeria Immigration Service as a model of sustained international cooperation, reaffirming the Netherlands’ commitment to supporting initiatives that strengthen Migration Management and institutional capacity.
4. The collaboration between the two institutions has, to date, resulted in the training of hundreds of NIS officers, the creation of a dedicated Hostmanship Unit, and sustained capacity-building under the European Union-funded Capacity Building and Relationship Management (CBR) Project. This new support further reflects both institutions’ determination to strengthen Migration Management through innovation, knowledge sharing, strategic partnership, and a shared commitment to delivering memorable service experiences that inspire public confidence and trust.

The Service extends its profound gratitude to the Government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, and specifically to the Repatriation and Departure Service, for its consistent support and confidence in the Service’s reform agenda. 73 NIGERIA IMMIGRATION SERVICE PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICERS INDUCTED INTO THE NIGERIAN INSTITUTE OF PUBLIC RELATIONS

In fulfillment of its commitment to institutionalizing strategic communication and professionalising its Public Relations cadre, seventy-three (73) Public Relations Officers of Nigeria Immigration Service were inducted into the professional ranks of Nigerian Institute of Public Relations. This followed the successful completion of the NIPR Training and Certification and Training Programme at the Service Headquarters, Abuja

2. The Comptroller-General of Immigration, CGI KN Nandap, pcc, mmis, fsmn, fspsp represented by Deputy Comptroller General Visa and Residency, FU Nwanneka charged the newly inducted officers to uphold the highest standards of professionalism. She tasked them to proactively manage public perception, counter misinformation, respond effectively to crises, and strengthen public trust as the Service drives technology-enabled reforms in Migration Management and Border Governance. She commended the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations for their collaboration to professionalize and deepen the practice of Public Relations within Nigeria Immigration Service.
3. Dr. Ike Neliaku, fnipr, the President and Chairman of Council of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, formally inducted the participants into the Institute. In his address, he enjoined them to uphold ethics, professionalism, and lifelong learning as core values of the Public Relations profession.
4. While delivering his closing remarks the Service Public Relations Officer, Deputy Comptroller of Immigration Akinsola Akinlabi, noted the unwavering commitment of the Comptroller-General of Immigration to capacity building and her resolve to standardize Public Relations practice within the Service. He expressed appreciation to the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, resource persons, and all stakeholders whose support made the landmark programme a success. He urged the PROs to translate the knowledge gained into practical action, reinforcing the Service’s commitment to effective public engagement.

NIGERIA IMMIGRATION SERVICE STRENGTHENS PARTNERSHIP WITH DENMARK ON MARITIME SECURITY AND MIGRATION MANAGEMENT

The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, KN Nandap, pcc, fsmn, represented by the Deputy Comptroller General Border Management, DCG AR Sabo, received a delegation from the Royal Danish Embassy, led by the Deputy Head of Mission, Ms. Julie Rosenkilde Hannibal, at the Service Headquarters, Abuja. The meeting forms part of ongoing efforts to deepen collaboration between Nigeria and the Kingdom of Denmark on Border security and Migration Management.

2. Discussions centred on the scope of future partnership in addressing maritime security challenges within the Gulf of Guinea, strengthening Border Governance, combating irregular migration, and promoting safe, orderly and regular migration. Both parties also explored opportunities for enhanced technical cooperation, capacity building and information sharing in areas of mutual interest.
3. Speaking on behalf of the CGI during the meeting, the Deputy Comptroller General reaffirmed the Service’s commitment to fostering stronger collaboration with the Kingdom of Denmark in support of regional security, effective Border Governance and Migration Management. He appreciated the Danish delegation for the visit and expressed optimism that the partnership would further contribute to the attainment of shared security and development objectives.
