NIS PARTICIPATES IN SUB-FORUM ON MIGRATION MANAGEMENT COOPERATION IN CHINA
The Nigeria Immigration Service participated in the Sub-Forum on Migration Management Cooperation held in Lianyungang, Jiangsu Province China from 8th to 11th September 2026. The event, where over 2000 participants from 139 countries and organisations gathered, focused on strengthening International cooperation in Migration Management and addressing emerging transnational challenges.
- As part of activities lined up for the international event, the Comptroller-General of Immigration, KN Nandap, pcc, fsmn on the 9th September, 2026, held a bilateral meeting with the National Immigration Administration of China, where both institutions discussed issues of mutual interest and explored opportunities to strengthen collaboration through technical exchanges, information sharing and capacity-building initiatives.
- The second day of the event featured country presentations on migration policy initiatives and efforts to strengthen cooperation among member countries in addressing irregular migration and transnational organised crime. The programme also featured parallel sessions on Smart Digital Services and Administration for Foreigners and Advancing Document Verification, Technology and Intelligence Sharing for Secure Borders.
- The NIS also participated in the latter session, where it contributed to a roundtable discussion on Nigeria’s role in combating document fraud and falsification of records, highlighting the efforts of the Service in strengthening document verification and Border Security.
- The Nigeria Immigration Service reaffirms its commitment to strengthening international partnerships, intelligence sharing and technical cooperation in promoting secure borders and effective Migration Management.
