UNITED KINGDOM SPECIAL PASSPORT INTERVENTION EXERCISE: WEEK ONE REVIEW

The Nigeria Immigration Service Special Passport Intervention Exercise in the United Kingdom has recorded remarkable progress in its first week, with a total of 2,296 applicants successfully enrolled across the London and Manchester Centers.

2. The exercise commenced on 7th September, 2026 and has witnessed sustained turnout and the steady processing of applicants with confirmed appointments across the London and Manchester Centers.
3. Within the first six operational days, a total of 2,296 applicants were successfully enrolled. A breakdown shows 587 applicants processed at the London Centre and 1,709 applicants processed at the Manchester Centre.

5. As part of efforts to ensure effective oversight and quality Service Delivery, the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, KN Nandap, pcc, fsmn, undertook a working visit to the Special Passport Intervention Centers in Manchester and London. The visit was to assess the exercise firsthand, interface with members of the Nigerian community, and to ensure that the intervention delivers efficient, responsive and seamless passport services to all applicants.
6. The exercise continues at the London and Manchester Centers. Applicants with confirmed intervention appointments are assured of service. Passport production and dispatch for enrolled applicants have commenced and are progressing steadily.
7. The Nigeria Immigration Service appreciates the patience, understanding and cooperation of members of the Nigerian community in the United Kingdom throughout the exercise. The Service further urges all applicants to continue cooperating with officials on ground to ensure the smooth and efficient delivery of the intervention.

NIS PARTICIPATES IN SUB-FORUM ON MIGRATION MANAGEMENT COOPERATION IN CHINA

The Nigeria Immigration Service participated in the Sub-Forum on Migration Management Cooperation held in Lianyungang, Jiangsu Province China from 8th to 11th September 2026. The event, where over 2000 participants from 139 countries and organisations gathered, focused on strengthening International cooperation in Migration Management and addressing emerging transnational challenges.

2. As part of activities lined up for the international event, the Comptroller-General of Immigration, KN Nandap, pcc, fsmn on the 9th September, 2026, held a bilateral meeting with the National Immigration Administration of China, where both institutions discussed issues of mutual interest and explored opportunities to strengthen collaboration through technical exchanges, information sharing and capacity-building initiatives.
3. The second day of the event featured country presentations on migration policy initiatives and efforts to strengthen cooperation among member countries in addressing irregular migration and transnational organised crime. The programme also featured parallel sessions on Smart Digital Services and Administration for Foreigners and Advancing Document Verification, Technology and Intelligence Sharing for Secure Borders.
4. The NIS also participated in the latter session, where it contributed to a roundtable discussion on Nigeria’s role in combating document fraud and falsification of records, highlighting the efforts of the Service in strengthening document verification and Border Security.
5. The Nigeria Immigration Service reaffirms its commitment to strengthening international partnerships, intelligence sharing and technical cooperation in promoting secure borders and effective Migration Management.

NIS STRENGTHENS SENIOR LEADERSHIP CAPACITY THROUGH HOSTMANSHIP PROGRAMME IN THE HAGUE

In furtherance of its commitment at enhancing capacity building, leadership development and people-centred Service Delivery, Nigeria Immigration Service Senior Management Officers participated in a four-day Hostmanship Senior Leadership Programme in The Hague, Kingdom of the Netherlands.

2. The Comptroller-General of Immigration, KN Nandap, pcc, fsmn, and five other very senior officers of the Service participated in the training held from 31st August to 3rd September 2026. The programme was organized by the Repatriation and Departure Service (R&DS) of the Ministry of Justice and Security, Kingdom of the Netherlands, as part of the continued partnership between both institutions.
3. Focused on Hostmanship as a leadership philosophy and its application in shaping organisational culture, decision-making and the experience of people who interact with the Service. Participants also explored the foundational philosophy of Hostmanship, leadership approaches for driving organisational change, and practical strategies for embedding Hostmanship across the Service, including development of participants action-plan for implementation within their respective areas of responsibility.
4. The Nigeria Immigration Service extends its appreciation to the Ministry of Justice and Security of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, specifically to the Repatriation and Departure Service, for their sustained partnership and support.

NIGERIA IMMIGRATION SERVICE HOSTS TRENDAI/TREND MICRO DELEGATION, EXPLORES STRATEGIC CYBERSECURITY PARTNERSHIP

1. The Nigeria Immigration Service received a delegation from TrendAI/Trend Micro at its Headquarters in Abuja on 1st September 2026. The visit was aimed at strengthening collaboration on cybersecurity architecture, AI integration, and data security.
2. The delegation, led by Mr. Assad Arabi, Managing Director, Africa and Venture Markets, highlighted Trend Micro’s extensive global expertise in cybersecurity architecture and emphasised that the company is seeking a long-term strategic partnership with the NIS rather than a transactional product sale. They proposed supporting the Service through continuous technical advisory, capacity building, and the integration of their Trend Vision One cybersecurity platform to protect critical NIS digital infrastructure and information systems.
3. The Comptroller General of Immigration, KN Nandap, pcc, fsmn, represented by the DCG Visa and Residency, F.U. Nwanneka, welcomed the exploratory collaboration and technical engagement, and emphasised the importance of leveraging strategic technology partnerships to strengthen the Service’s digital infrastructure, cybersecurity posture, and overall operational efficiency.
4. The engagement featured robust discussions on data privacy, system compatibility, capacity building for NIS ICT personnel, and technical advisory services.
