50 NIGERIA IMMIGRATION SERVICE OFFICERS INDUCTED INTO INSTITUTE OF STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT OF NIGERIA (CHARTERED)

In line with its commitment to Human Capital Development, the Nigeria Immigration Service recorded another significant milestone as fifty (50) senior officers were inducted into the Institute of Strategic Management of Nigeria (Chartered) upon the successful completion of their professional certification program on 24th June, 2026.

  1. The induction ceremony, which held at the CGIS Auditorium, Technology Building, Service Headquarters, Abuja, marks another strategic investment in building a highly skilled, knowledge-driven and professionally competent workforce capable of responding effectively to the evolving demands of leadership.
  2. The President and Chairman-in-Council of the Institute of Strategic Management of Nigeria (Chartered), Mr. Alex Ndudi Enebeli, formally conferred professional membership status on the participants and inducted them into the Institute. He emphasized that strategic management is a continuous learning process that requires constant adaptation, innovation and professional development, urging the newly inducted members to continually build their knowledge and competencies
  3. The Comptroller-General, KN Nandap, pcc, mmis, fsmn, fspsp, represented by Assistant Comptroller-General in charge of Migration Directorate, AM Halliday, in her closing remarks emphasized that strategic management is the foundation of effective leadership and institutional excellence. She urged the newly inducted officers to leverage the knowledge and strategic competencies acquired through the programme to foster innovation, strengthen organizational performance, and advance the Service’s mandate with professionalism, accountability, and vision.
  4. The Nigeria Immigration Service remains committed to investing in the continuous professional development of its personnel through strategic partnerships and specialized training programmes that strengthen institutional capacity, promote excellence in Service Delivery and advance effective Migration Management and Border Governance.

NIGERIA IMMIGRATION SERVICE PROMOTES CYBERSECURITY CULTURE THROUGH AWARENESS PROGRAMME

The Nigeria Immigration Service, through its ICT and Cybersecurity Directorate, organized a a two-day Cybersecurity Awareness Programme themed “Cyber-Aware Nigeria Immigration Service” for officers of the Service on 16th- 17th June, 2026, at the Service Headquarters Auditorium, Shehu Shagari Complex, Sauka, Abuja.

  1. The Programme was conducted to enhance the understanding of NIS personnel on cyber risks, strengthen data security practices, and improve their capacity to safeguard critical data systems, digital infrastructure, and sensitive National data.
  2. Delivering the opening remarks, the Deputy Comptroller-General, ICT and Cybersecurity Directorate, DCG A Obianime psc, pcc, commended the Comptroller-General of Immigration for her commitment to reform, digital transformation, and institutional capacity development. She stated that the Programme was designed to deepen cybersecurity awareness across all levels of the Service and build on previous efforts aimed at strengthening the Service’s resilience against emerging cyber threats.
  3. Declaring the Programme open, the Comptroller-General of Immigration, KN Nandap, pcc, mmis, fsmn, fspsp, ably represented by Deputy Comptroller-General, Planning, Research and Statistics Directorate, DCG DM Bagari, pcc+, emphasized that as the Service continues to expand its digital capabilities, cybersecurity must remain a collective responsibility of all personnel. She noted that the Service, as a custodian of critical National Data, remains a high-value target for cybercriminals and other hostile actors. She further urged the Directorate to extend similar awareness initiatives across all Service formations to strengthen institutional resilience against cyber threats.
  4. The Programme featured presentations on Building a Cyber-Aware Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS Threat Landscape and Threat Analysis, and Cybercrime Foundations and Intelligence in the Digital Era, alongside interactive discussions and practical insights on cyber threat prevention, investigation, and international collaboration.
  5. The initiative underscores the commitment of the Service to strengthening data security, enhancing staff capacity, and fostering a culture of vigilance, discipline, and responsible digital practices in support of effective Migration Management, Border Governance, and National Security.

Nigeria Immigration Service Flags Off “Catch Them Young” Sensitization Programme

On 15th June 2026, the Nigeria Immigration Service flagged off the “Catch Them Young” Sensitization Programme as part of efforts to educate secondary and tertiary institution students across all Area Councils of the Federal Capital Territory on the dangers of visa fraud, irregular migration, and deceptive travel schemes.

The programme seeks to instill early awareness among young Nigerians on safe, orderly, and regular migration, while promoting responsible decision-making and an understanding of legitimate migration processes. Through interactive engagements and educational sessions, students are equipped with accurate information to help them identify fraudulent migration schemes and avoid practices that could expose them to exploitation.

Through this sensitization programme, the Nigeria Immigration Service continues to invest in the younger generation and strengthen public awareness on migration issues, while promoting safe, orderly, and regular migration practices across the country.
