Regional maritime security workshop concludes as NIS enhances maritime security operations through technology and capacity building
The Nigeria Immigration Service, in collaboration with the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT), has successfully concluded the Regional Maritime Security Workshop, underscoring its commitment to enhancing maritime security in the Gulf of Guinea through the adoption of technology and sustained capacity development.
The final day of the workshop began with a field visit to the seaport organized by NIS, providing participants with first-hand insights into frontline operational dynamics and port security management. The extensive engagement at the seaport offered valuable insights.
Upon return to the venue, participants proceeded directly to the wrap-up and recommendations session, during which key observations were shared and expectations set for the issuance of a formal communiqué to guide future regional cooperation efforts.
The workshop came to a close with a certificate presentation ceremony recognizing the dedication and contributions of all participants, followed by a group photo session to commemorate the event.
