NIGERIA IMMIGRATION SERVICE FLAGS OFF 2026 LAW WEEK

The Nigeria Immigration Service officially flagged off its 2026 Law Week, themed “Leveraging Technology and Strengthening the Legal-Operational Framework for a Secure and Efficient Immigration Service.” at the Technology Building, Service Headquarters, Abuja.

  1. In her opening remarks at the inaugural Law Week, the Director of Legal Services, Ms Oluwatoyin A Yusuf, Esq, welcomed participants and underscored the importance of aligning the Service’s operations with legal frameworks, transparency, and accountability. She highlighted the need to leverage technology to tackle emerging global migration and border security challenges while upholding the rule of law, and emphasized that the event provides a platform for reflection, learning, and strengthening legal and operational standards.
  2. Declaring the Law Week open, the Comptroller-General of Immigration, KN Nandap, pcc, mmis, fsmn, fspsp, represented by the Deputy Comptroller-General, Human Resource Directorate, A. Ayeni, reaffirmed that all immigration operations must be firmly guided by the rule of law, extant statutory provisions, and due process, stressing that technology and enforcement must operate strictly within the ambit of legal frameworks.
  3. The 2026 Law Week will feature a sensitization rally aimed at educating personnel and the public on legal compliance and best practices within immigration operations. The Service remains committed to upholding the rule of law, professionalism, and accountability in all its activities.
