NIS REPOSITIONS AIRPORT OPERATIONS FOR PROFESSIONAL EXCELLENCE AND ENHANCED SERVICE DELIVERY THROUGH CAPACITY BUILDING

The Nigeria Immigration Service, under the leadership of the Comptroller-General of Immigration, KN Nandap, pcc, fsmn, has successfully concluded a two-week capacity-building training for personnel of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Command, Abuja. The training, a first in a series designed for personnel of NIS airport formations across the country was held from 28th July to 7th August 2026 at the Shehu Shagari Conference Hall, Service Headquarters. It focused on strengthening operational efficiency, professionalism, ethical conduct and Service Delivery.

  1. Themed “Repositioning NIS Airport Operations for Professional Excellence, Ethical Conduct and Enhanced Service Delivery,” the training was executed to instill practical knowledge and skills in passenger profiling, visa and entry verification, passenger and crew clearance, queue management, MIDAS and e-Gates, apron operations, hostmanship, ethical conduct and anti-corruption practices.
  2. The capacity-building programme was introduced in response to the evolving demands of modern airport operations, increased passenger traffic, and the growing use of technology in border management. It is designed to ensure that NIS personnel are adequately equipped to effectively address emerging operational challenges.
  3. The Nigeria Immigration Service remains committed to continuously improving its airport operations through professional capacity development, innovation, accountability and adherence to global best practices, tailored towards effective Border Security and enhancing international travelers experience.
