NIS IN COLLABORATION WITH NIGERIAN CIVIL AVIATION AUTHORITY (NCAA) HOSTS STAKEHOLDERS’ SENSITIZATION AND ENGAGEMENT ON THE IMPLEMENTATION OF e-VISA , LANDING AND EXIT CARD.

NIGERIA IMMIGRATION SERVICE IN COLLABORATION WITH NIGERIAN CIVIL AVIATION AUTHORITY (NCAA) HOSTS STAKEHOLDERS’ SENSITIZATION AND ENGAGEMENT ON THE IMPLEMENTATION OF e-VISA , LANDING AND EXIT CARD.

Earlier today in Lagos, the Hon. Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, and the Comptroller General, Nigeria Immigration Service, KN Nandap pcc, mmis, fsmn in collaboration with Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority hosted a Stakeholders’ Sensitization and engagement on the implementation of e-Visa, Landing, and Exit Card. The Minister, in his keynote address, warned airlines against bringing passengers without valid visas or Landing and Exit Cards, stressing that National Security is non-negotiable. He urged NIS, NCAA to enforce the 2025 Nigeria Visa Policy, stating that airlines have a duty to verify visas before boarding. While the e-Visa system improves access, he emphasized that applicants must meet clear criteria and that as of 22nd May 2025, five thousand eight hundred and fourteen (5,814) applications had been received and five thousand six hundredand seventy one (5,671) approved. The barcode-enabled system aims to strengthen Border Control and data intelligence.In his remarks, the Director-General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Capt. Chris Najomo described the introduction of the e-Visa and the Landing and Exit Card systems as a major milestone in enhancing air travel facilitation while upholding top-tier aviation security and operational efficiency He noted that the e-Visa aligns with global best practices, particularly ICAO’s Annex 9 on Facilitation, and is designed to improve the traveller experience while strengthening border control.In her closing remarks, Comptroller General, Nigeria Immigration Service, KN Nandap,pcc, mmis, fsmn, extended heartfelt appreciation to the Minister of Interior, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, the NCAA Director-General, the Managing Director of FAAN, and the dedicated NIS team for their contributions. She emphasized the importance of sustained inter-agency collaboration to ensure the seamless and effective implementation of the e-Visa, Landing, and Exit Card systems, reaffirming the NIS’ commitment to a secure, efficient, and technology-driven immigration process.

Regional maritime security workshop concludes as NIS enhances maritime security operations through technology and capacity building

The Nigeria Immigration Service, in collaboration with the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT), has successfully concluded the Regional Maritime Security Workshop, underscoring its commitment to enhancing maritime security in the Gulf of Guinea through the adoption of technology and sustained capacity development.

The final day of the workshop began with a field visit to the seaport organized by NIS, providing participants with first-hand insights into frontline operational dynamics and port security management. The extensive engagement at the seaport offered valuable insights.

Upon return to the venue, participants proceeded directly to the wrap-up and recommendations session, during which key observations were shared and expectations set for the issuance of a formal communiqué to guide future regional cooperation efforts.

The workshop came to a close with a certificate presentation ceremony recognizing the dedication and contributions of all participants, followed by a group photo session to commemorate the event.

The Comptroller General of Nigeria Immigration Service, received members of the House of Representatives Committee on Safety Standards and Regulations, led by the Chairman, Hon. David Idris Zacharias.

Yesterday, The Comptroller General of Nigeria Immigration Service, KN Nandap, pcc, mmis, fsmn, received members of the House of Representatives Committee on Safety Standards and Regulations, led by the Chairman, Hon. David Idris Zacharias, on an oversight visit. The focus of the visit was on promoting a culture of safety within the Service.

The Comptroller General reaffirmed NIS’ commitment to maintaining high safety standards through strict adherence to standard operating procedures and HSE protocols.

Hon. Idris in his remarks emphasized the importance of establishing a dedicated Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) unit.

The Committee, accompanied by safety professionals from other agencies, inspected various NIS Headquarters facilities to assess existing HSE measures. They commended NIS efforts and pledged to provide a formal report with recommendations, while encouraging NIS to sustain and enhance its safety practices.

This engagement lays a foundation for ongoing improvement, accountability, and alignment with global safety standards.

Umar, led a delegation to The Rabat Process (Euro-African Dialogue on Migration and Development) Thematic Meeting titled: “Youth, Education and Innovation: Driving the Future of Migration.”

The Forum held on 13th May, 2025 at Transcorp Hotel, Abuja, convened stakeholders from across Central, West, and North Africa, as well as Europe, to engage in meaningful dialogue on migration and development.

The Rabat Process serves as a critical intergovernmental platform aimed at strengthening cooperation between African and European partners on migration issues.

In line with this, the Nigeria Immigration Service reaffirms its unwavering commitment to fostering regional and international collaboration, promoting sustainable migration policies, and empowering African youth through education and innovation.
