CGI KEMI NANNA NANDAP ATTENDS SIR AHMADU BELLO MEMORIAL FOUNDATION ORGANIZED INTERACTIVE SESSION ON GOVERNMENT- CITIZEN DIALOGUE, HIGHLIGHTS KEY IMMIGRATION REFORMS IN LINE WITH THE RENEWED HOPE AGENDA

The Comptroller General of Immigration, KN Nandap, pcc, mmis, fsmn, attended a 2-Day Interactive Session on Government-Citizen Engagement, themed “Assessing Electoral Promises: Fostering Government–Citizen Engagement for National Unity,” held from July 29–30, 2025, at Arewa House, Kaduna.

The high-level forum, organized by the prestigious Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation, convened prominent national figures. The Governor of Kwara State, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, CON, represented the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, while the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, CON, led the Federal Government delegation. Other participants included the Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Uba Sani, CON, alongside other State Governors, top government functionaries, Defence and Security Chiefs, Heads of MDAs, and Civil Society Leaders.

The dialogue featured in-depth plenary sessions on National Security, Governance and Economy, Infrastructure, Human Capital Development, Agriculture and Food Security. It aimed at reviewing electoral commitments under the Renewed Hope Agenda of the President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.

Speaking during the plenary on National Security, the Comptroller General outlined major immigration reforms under the Renewed Hope Agenda. These include: Enhanced Border Surveillance and Implementation of e-Border Solutions, Establishment of a Command-and-Control Centre, Enhancing Migration Policies (Revised Nigeria’s Visa Policy), Man Power Development, Reinvigorated Border Governance practice and community-driven social interventions, as strategic efforts to deepen citizen trust and promote National cohesion.

The platform provided the Service the opportunity to reaffirm its dedication to citizen-centric engagement—fostering a culture of continuous dialogue between citizens and government institutions.

Yesterday, the Comptroller-General KN Nandap, pcc,mmis, fsmn, was ably represented by Assistant Comptroller General EL Anugwa, psc, pcc, fsi, fcna, Zone A Coordinator, at the graduating ceremony of 11th Staff Course, Immigration Command and Staff College (ICSC) Sokoto.

The Commandant, ICSC, CIS M. Muazu, congratulated the 71 graduates and the 2 officers who were recognized for their exemplary academic performance urging them all to lead with integrity. He also appreciated the Comptroller-General, staff, and stakeholders for their support.

The ceremony was attended by dignitaries, including Representatives of the Governor of Sokoto State and the Sultan of Sokoto, as well as Heads and representatives of sister security agencies in Sokoto. They commended the graduating officers and the Nigeria Immigration Service for their contributions to National Development

The Comptroller-General, through her representative, Assistant Comptroller General EL Anugwa, reiterated the Service’s commitment to investing in officers through capacity-building initiatives and urged the graduating officers to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and integrity in all their duties.

Nigeria Immigration Service Announces amnesty window for visa overstayers to regularize immigration status.

In a bid to enhance compliance with the New Visa Regime and reinforce a secure and transparent migration system, the Federal Government through the Ministry of Interior and the Nigeria Immigration Service, announces an Expired Visa Initiative (Amnesty). This initiative provides a unique window for foreigners currently residing in Nigeria with expired immigration status to regularize their stay without facing penalties.

2.⁠ ⁠The initiative, which commenced on 1st May 2025, runs until 30th September 2025, and specifically applies to individuals who have either overstayed their visas or violated their visa conditions.

3.⁠ ⁠The amnesty applies to the following categories:

• Foreign nationals with Expired Visa on Arrival (VoA);

• Holders of Expired Single and Multiple-Entry Visas.

• Individuals with an Expired Combined Expatriate Residence Permit and Aliens Card (CERPAC), where renewal has exceeded 30 days post-expiration.

4.⁠ ⁠All affected foreign nationals are urged to promptly regularize their stay through https://amnesty.immigration.gov.ng within the grace period to avoid overstay penalties.

The Comptroller General, Nigeria Immigration Service, KN Nandap, pcc, mmis, fsmn, received a delegation from the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Foundation, led by its Deputy Secretary General and Chief Operating Officer, Mr Stephen Peck on a courtesy visit to the NIS Headquarters.

The engagement aimed to establish a synergy with the Nigeria Immigration Service, particularly in the facilitation of immigration documentation, as Nigeria prepares to host the prestigious Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Forum 2025 in Lagos, bringing together around 400 distinguished delegates from over 60 nations.

The Comptroller General, KN Nandap, pcc, mmis, fsmn, represented by the Deputy Comptroller General of Works and Logistics, AJ Umanah, assured the delegation of the Service’s commitment to providing the necessary support to ensure a seamless immigration process for all participants. The Nigeria Immigration Service conducted a strategic border assessment tour of Jibiya and Babanmutun Border Control Posts in Katsina state from 26th to 27th June, 2025.

The Comptroller General, KN Nandap, pcc, mmis, fsmn, was represented by Deputy Comptroller General, MT Umar, ICT and Cybersecurity Directorate alongside Assistant Comptroller General, SP Jika, Border Directorate and other Senior Officers.

The Border tour was undertaken to evaluate the operational readiness, needs assessment, and overall security architecture of Jibiya and Babanmutum Border Control Posts.

With the completion of the two-day strategic tour, Nigeria Immigration Service has demonstrated, it remains steadfast in its commitment to safeguarding the Nation’s borders through application of innovative technologies, continuous capacity building, and inter-agency collaboration.

NIS PARTNERS DUTCH GOVERNMENT, RECEIVES EDISON SOFTWARE LICENSE KEYS AND THE PASSPORT EXAMINATION PROGRAM MANUAL (PEPM III) APP TO ENHANCE MIGRATION MANAGEMENT

Sequel to a working visit to the Netherlands earlier this year by the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (CGIS), KN Nandap, pcc, mmis, fsmn, the Service received a Dutch delegation led by Mr. J. Bartelink, Chargé D’Affaires of the Embassy of the Netherlands, at the Service Headquarters, Abuja, for a high-level strategic meeting aimed at deepening migration cooperation between both countries.

2. The visit focused on enhancing bilateral collaboration on Migration Management, reviewing ongoing capacity-building efforts, and formalizing the handover of critical operational resources, including the Edison Software license keys and the Passport Examination Program Manual (PEPM III) App, to the Nigeria Immigration Service.
3. Mr. Bartelink reaffirmed the Netherlands’ commitment to supporting Nigeria’s ongoing reforms in Migration governance and border security. He lauded the long-standing partnership between both countries and emphasized the importance of sustained cooperation in addressing global Migration challenges.
4. Also, part of the delegation was Mr. Rob Bokhoven, Director of International Affairs, Repatriation and Deportation Services, Ministry of Justice and Security of the Netherlands. He reiterated the strength of the bilateral relationship and announced plans to share a mobile border software program with the NIS—an initiative designed to provide innovative, tech-driven solutions to enhance Nigeria’s border control systems.
5. In her response, the CGIS expressed appreciation to the Government of the Netherlands for its consistent support and technical assistance. She noted that the PEPM III and Edison Software tools would significantly enhance the Service’s document verification and Border Management capabilities, while supporting the implementation of Nigeria’s National Migration Policy.
6. This engagement further reinforces the strategic partnership between Nigeria and the Netherlands, advancing shared goals in Migration Governance, Border Security, and international cooperation.

During the visit, the Executive Secretary expressed his agency’s commitment to supporting the NIS in its efforts to secure the Nation’s Borders. He highlighted the importance of community engagement and empowerment in preventing security threats and promoting peaceful coexistence.

The Comptroller General appreciated the agency’s collaboration with the NIS and assured that the Service would continue to work closely with them to achieve both agency’s shared goals. The Comptroller General, KN Nandap, pcc, mmis, fsmn, participated in the Constitution Review Legislative Dialogue on National Security Architecture, themed “Nigeria’s Peace and Security: The Constitutional Imperatives,” held on June 16, 2025, at the National Counter Terrorism Centre in Abuja.”

The high-level dialogue on National Security was jointly convened by the House of Representatives Committee on Constitution Review and the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA). The event brought together top security chiefs, lawmakers, government agency heads, experts, civil society representatives, and community leaders to discuss legislative and policy reforms aimed at enhancing Nigeria’s National Security framework and promoting a safer Nigeria.

The Nigeria Immigration Service remains committed to bolstering National Security through strategic collaborations and constitutional alignment. By collaborating with key stakeholders and aligning with constitutional imperatives, the NIS aims to enhance border security, promote regional stability, and contribute to a safer Nigeria.

The Comptroller General, during her remarks, highlighted the significance of partnerships in Migration Management and Border Security, noting that Border Governance is the Service’ core mandate. She emphasized the role of technology in enhancing Border control and National Security, and praised the strategic partnership with IOM, outlining potential areas for future collaboration in operations, technical expertise, and legal frameworks.
